มันคืออะไร?

คำถามใช้เพื่อขอข้อมูล การยืนยัน การอนุญาต หรือความช่วยเหลือ

คำถามภาษาอังกฤษมักใช้กริยาช่วย (auxiliary verb) หน้ากระทู้ (subject)

คำถามทั่วไป ได้แก่:

• who
• what
• where
• when
• why
• which
• how

ตัวอย่าง:

• Do you work here?
• Is she at home?
• Where do they live?
• Why are you tired?

เมื่อใดควรใช้

ใช้คำถามแบบใช่-ไม่ใช่ (yes-or-no questions) เมื่อคำตอบเป็น ใช่ หรือ ไม่ใช่

• Do you like coffee?
• Is he ready?
• Can they come?

ใช้คำถามแบบมีคำถาม (question-word questions) เมื่อคุณต้องการข้อมูลเฉพาะ

• What do you want?
• Where does she work?
• When are they leaving?
• Why did he call?
• How can I help?

ใช้คำถามเพื่อถามเกี่ยวกับ:

• คน: Who is that?
• สิ่งของ: What is this?
• สถานที่: Where do you live?
• เวลา: When does the meeting start?
• เหตุผล: Why are you late?
• ตัวเลือก: Which colour do you prefer?
• วิธีการหรือเงื่อนไข: How do you make this?

โครงสร้าง

คำถามกับ to be

ใช้:

am/is/are + ประธาน + ส่วนเติมเต็ม?

สำหรับคำถามในอดีต ใช้ was หรือ were

• Was he at work?
• Were they busy?

คำถามกับกริยาอื่น

ใช้ do หรือ does ใน Present Simple

do/does + ประธาน + กริยารูปฐาน?

ใช้ did ใน Past Simple

did + ประธาน + กริยารูปฐาน?

• Did you call her?
• Did he finish the task?

คำถามกับกริยาช่วย (modal verbs)

วางกริยาช่วยหน้ากระทู้

กริยาช่วย + ประธาน + กริยารูปฐาน?

• Can you swim?
• Could she help us?
• Should we leave?
• Will they come?

คำถามแบบมีคำถาม (Question-word questions)

วางคำถามหน้ากริยาช่วย

คำถาม + กริยาช่วย + ประธาน + กริยาหลัก?

• Where do you work?
• What does she need?
• Why did they leave?
• When will he arrive?

กับ to be ใช้:

คำถาม + am/is/are/was/were + ประธาน?

• Where is she?
• Why are they angry?
• When was the meeting?

คำถามที่ถามเกี่ยวกับประธาน (Subject questions)

เมื่อ who หรือ what เป็นประธาน อย่าใช้ do, does, หรือ did

• Who called you?
• What happened?
• Who lives here?

เปรียบเทียบ:

• Who called Anna? — ถามเกี่ยวกับคนที่โทรหาแอนนา
• Who did Anna call? — ถามเกี่ยวกับคนที่แอนนาโทรหา

ข้อยกเว้น

อย่าใช้ do, does, หรือ did กับ to be

• ถูกต้อง: Is she ready?
• ไม่ถูกต้อง: Does she be ready?

อย่าใช้ do, does, หรือ did กับกริยาช่วย (modal verbs)

• ถูกต้อง: Can he drive?
• ไม่ถูกต้อง: Does he can drive?

เมื่อคำถามเป็นประธาน ให้ใช้ลำดับคำปกติของประโยคคำถามแบบประธาน

• Who knows the answer?
• What caused the problem?

คำถามบางคำถามสามารถมีรูปแบบเหมือนประโยคบอกเล่าในการพูดไม่เป็นทางการ เมื่อผู้พูดประหลาดใจหรือตรวจสอบข้อมูล

• You finished already?
• She lives here?

รูปแบบเหล่านี้พบได้ทั่วไปในการสนทนา แต่ไม่เหมาะสำหรับการเขียนแบบเป็นทางการ

ข้อผิดพลาดทั่วไป

1. ไม่ถูกต้อง: You like coffee? ถูกต้อง: Do you like coffee? คำอธิบาย: ใช้ do เพื่อสร้างคำถามใน Present Simple

2. ไม่ถูกต้อง: Does she works here? ถูกต้อง: Does she work here? คำอธิบาย: ใช้กริยารูปฐานหลัง does

3. ไม่ถูกต้อง: Did he went home? ถูกต้อง: Did he go home? คำอธิบาย: ใช้กริยารูปฐานหลัง did

4. ไม่ถูกต้อง: Do they are ready? ถูกต้อง: Are they ready? คำอธิบาย: อย่าใช้ do กับกริยา to be

5. ไม่ถูกต้อง: Where she lives? ถูกต้อง: Where does she live? คำอธิบาย: วาง does หน้ากระทู้ในคำถาม Present Simple

6. ไม่ถูกต้อง: Why you are late? ถูกต้อง: Why are you late? คำอธิบาย: วาง are หน้ากระทู้

7. ไม่ถูกต้อง: Does he can swim? ถูกต้อง: Can he swim? คำอธิบาย: วางกริยาช่วยหน้ากระทู้โดยไม่ใช้ does

8. ไม่ถูกต้อง: Who did call you? ถูกต้อง: Who called you? คำอธิบาย: อย่าใช้ did เมื่อ who เป็นประธาน
