આ શું છે?

પાસ્ટ સિમ્પલ (Past Simple) નો ઉપયોગ ભૂતકાળમાં શરૂ થયેલી અને પૂરી થયેલી ક્રિયાઓ, ઘટનાઓ અને પરિસ્થિતિઓ વિશે વાત કરવા માટે થાય છે.

ઉદાહરણો:

• I visited my friend yesterday.
• She worked from home last week.
• They went to the cinema.

નિયમિત ક્રિયાપદો સામાન્ય રીતે -ed ઉમેરીને પાસ્ટ સિમ્પલ બનાવે છે.

• work → worked
• play → played
• clean → cleaned

અનિયમિત ક્રિયાપદોના ભૂતકાળના ખાસ સ્વરૂપો હોય છે.

• go → went
• see → saw
• buy → bought
• have → had

ક્યારે ઉપયોગ કરવો

પાસ્ટ સિમ્પલનો ઉપયોગ આ માટે કરો:

• ભૂતકાળમાં પૂર્ણ થયેલી ક્રિયાઓ: I finished the report yesterday.
• પૂર્ણ થયેલી ક્રિયાઓની શ્રેણી: She opened the door, walked inside, and sat down.
• ભૂતકાળની ટેવો: We played outside every day.
• ભૂતકાળની પરિસ્થિતિઓ જે હવે સાચી નથી: He lived in London for five years.
• ભૂતકાળના ચોક્કસ સમયે ક્રિયાઓ: They arrived at 8 p.m.

સામાન્ય ભૂતકાળના સમય સૂચક અભિવ્યક્તિઓમાં શામેલ છે:

• yesterday
• last night
• last week
• two days ago
• in 2020
• when I was a child

હકારાત્મક વાક્યો

નિયમિત ક્રિયાપદો માટે, આનો ઉપયોગ કરો:

કર્તા + ક્રિયાપદ-ed

અનિયમિત ક્રિયાપદો માટે, ભૂતકાળના ખાસ સ્વરૂપનો ઉપયોગ કરો.

ભૂતકાળનું સ્વરૂપ દરેક કર્તા માટે સમાન હોય છે.

• I worked.
• He worked.
• They worked.

નકારાત્મક વાક્યો

આનો ઉપયોગ કરો:

કર્તા + did not + મૂળ ક્રિયાપદ

did not નું ટૂંકું સ્વરૂપ didn’t છે.

• I did not call him.
• She didn’t go to work.
• They didn’t understand the question.

didn’t પછી, ક્રિયાપદના મૂળ સ્વરૂપનો ઉપયોગ કરો.

અપવાદો

to be ક્રિયાપદ પાસ્ટ સિમ્પલના પ્રશ્નો અને નકારાત્મક વાક્યોમાં did નો ઉપયોગ કરતું નથી.

• I was tired.
• They were at home.
• She wasn’t ready.
• Were you busy?

કેટલાંક ક્રિયાપદો અનિયમિત છે અને -ed નો ઉપયોગ કરતાં નથી.

• come → came
• write → wrote
• make → made
• find → found

અનિયમિત સ્વરૂપો વ્યક્તિગત રીતે શીખવા જોઈએ.

સામાન્ય ભૂલો

1. ખોટું: I goed to work yesterday. સાચું: I went to work yesterday. સમજૂતી: Go અનિયમિત છે. તેનું ભૂતકાળનું સ્વરૂપ went છે.

2. ખોટું: She didn’t went home. સાચું: She didn’t go home. સમજૂતી: didn’t પછી મૂળ ક્રિયાપદનો ઉપયોગ કરો.

3. ખોટું: Did you saw him? સાચું: Did you see him? સમજૂતી: did પછી મૂળ ક્રિયાપદનો ઉપયોગ કરો.

4. ખોટું: He work yesterday. સાચું: He worked yesterday. સમજૂતી: પૂર્ણ થયેલી ભૂતકાળની ક્રિયા માટે પાસ્ટ સિમ્પલ સ્વરૂપનો ઉપયોગ કરો.

5. ખોટું: They was late. સાચું: They were late. સમજૂતી: they સાથે were નો ઉપયોગ કરો.

6. ખોટું: I didn’t called her. સાચું: I didn’t call her. સમજૂતી: didn’t પછી ભૂતકાળનું સ્વરૂપ વાપરશો નહીં.

7. ખોટું: Did she finished the task? સાચું: Did she finish the task? સમજૂતી: did પછી મૂળ સ્વરૂપનો ઉપયોગ કરો.

8. ખોટું: We studyed English yesterday. સાચું: We studied English yesterday. સમજૂતી: -ed ઉમેરતા પહેલાં વ્યંજન + y ને i માં બદલો.
