එය කුමක්ද?

Past Simple යනු අතීතයේ ආරම්භ වී අවසන් වූ ක්රියා, සිදුවීම් සහ තත්වයන් ගැන කතා කිරීමට භාවිතා කරයි.

උදාහරණ:

• I visited my friend yesterday.
• She worked from home last week.
• They went to the cinema.

Regular verbs සාමාන්යයෙන් Past Simple සෑදෙන්නේ -ed එකතු කිරීමෙනි.

• work → worked
• play → played
• clean → cleaned

Irregular verbs වලට විශේෂ අතීත ආකාර ඇත.

• go → went
• see → saw
• buy → bought
• have → had

භාවිතා කරන විට

Past Simple භාවිතා කරන්න:

• අතීතයේ සම්පූර්ණ ක්රියා සඳහා: I finished the report yesterday.
• සම්පූර්ණ ක්රියා මාලාවක් සඳහා: She opened the door, walked inside, and sat down.
• අතීත පුරුදු සඳහා: We played outside every day.
• තවදුරටත් සත්ය නොවන අතීත තත්වයන් සඳහා: He lived in London for five years.
• නිශ්චිත අතීත කාලයක ක්රියා සඳහා: They arrived at 8 p.m.

• yesterday
• last night
• last week
• two days ago
• in 2020
• when I was a child

Regular verbs සඳහා, භාවිතා කරන්න:

subject + verb-ed

Irregular verbs සඳහා, විශේෂ අතීත ආකාරය භාවිතා කරන්න.

අතීත ආකාරය සෑම subject එකකටම සමාන වේ.

• I worked.
• He worked.
• They worked.

සෘණ වාක්ය

භාවිතා කරන්න:

subject + did not + base verb

did not හි කෙටි ආකාරය didn’t වේ.

• I did not call him.
• She didn’t go to work.
• They didn’t understand the question.

didn’t ට පසුව, verb එකේ base form භාවිතා කරන්න.

ව්යතිරේක

to be යන verb එක Past Simple ප්රශ්න සහ සෘණ වාක්ය වල did භාවිතා නොකරයි.

• I was tired.
• They were at home.
• She wasn’t ready.
• Were you busy?

සමහර verbs irregular වන අතර -ed භාවිතා නොකරයි.

• come → came
• write → wrote
• make → made
• find → found

Irregular ආකාර තනි තනිව ඉගෙන ගත යුතුය.

පොදු වැරදි

1. වැරදි: I goed to work yesterday. නිවැරදි: I went to work yesterday. පැහැදිලි කිරීම: Go irregular වේ. එහි අතීත ආකාරය went වේ.

2. වැරදි: She didn’t went home. නිවැරදි: She didn’t go home. පැහැදිලි කිරීම: didn’t ට පසුව base verb භාවිතා කරන්න.

3. වැරදි: Did you saw him? නිවැරදි: Did you see him? පැහැදිලි කිරීම: did ට පසුව base verb භාවිතා කරන්න.

4. වැරදි: He work yesterday. නිවැරදි: He worked yesterday. පැහැදිලි කිරීම: සම්පූර්ණ අතීත ක්රියාවක් සඳහා Past Simple ආකාරය භාවිතා කරන්න.

5. වැරදි: They was late. නිවැරදි: They were late. පැහැදිලි කිරීම: they සමඟ were භාවිතා කරන්න.

6. වැරදි: I didn’t called her. නිවැරදි: I didn’t call her. පැහැදිලි කිරීම: didn’t ට පසුව අතීත ආකාරය භාවිතා නොකරන්න.

7. වැරදි: Did she finished the task? නිවැරදි: Did she finish the task? පැහැදිලි කිරීම: did ට පසුව base form භාවිතා කරන්න.

8. වැරදි: We studyed English yesterday. නිවැරදි: We studied English yesterday. පැහැදිලි කිරීම: -ed එකතු කිරීමට පෙර consonant + y i ලෙස වෙනස් කරන්න.
