ما هو؟

الأسماء غير المعدودة تصف الأشياء التي لا نعدها عادةً كعناصر فردية منفصلة.

غالبًا ما تشير إلى مواد، أو مكونات، أو معلومات، أو أنشطة، أو أفكار عامة.

الأسماء غير المعدودة الشائعة تشمل:

• water
• milk
• rice
• bread
• money
• information
• advice
• furniture
• luggage
• homework
• work
• traffic
• weather
• news

الأسماء غير المعدودة عادةً لا يكون لها صيغة جمع. وعادةً ما تُستخدم مع فعل مفرد.

متى تستخدم

استخدم الأسماء غير المعدودة عند التحدث عن:

• المواد والمكونات: water، coffee، sugar، wood
• الطعام كمادة عامة: bread، rice، cheese، meat
• الأفكار المجردة: happiness، knowledge، information
• الأنشطة والعمل: homework، work، research
• مجموعات من الأشياء تُرى كفئة واحدة: furniture، luggage، equipment
• الظروف العامة: weather، traffic

استخدم some، أو much، أو a little، أو a lot of مع الأسماء غير المعدودة.

استخدم حاوية، أو كمية، أو وحدة عندما تحتاج إلى عدّها.

البنية

لا تستخدم عادةً a أو an مباشرة قبل اسم غير معدود.

لعدّ اسم غير معدود، استخدم وحدة أو تعبيرًا مناسبًا:

• a piece of advice
• two pieces of information
• a loaf of bread
• three bottles of water
• a cup of coffee
• two items of luggage

2. There is a lot of traffic today.
3. She gave me useful advice.
4. We bought two bottles of water.
5. This furniture is very expensive.

استثناءات

بعض الأسماء يمكن أن تكون معدودة أو غير معدودة، اعتمادًا على معناها.

• coffee غير معدود عندما يعني المشروب بشكل عام: I drink coffee every morning.
• a coffee تعني كوبًا أو حصة واحدة: We ordered two coffees.
• chicken غير معدود عندما يعني الطعام: We ate chicken.
• a chicken تعني حيوانًا واحدًا: They have five chickens.
• paper غير معدود عندما يعني المادة: I need some paper.
• a paper يمكن أن تعني مستندًا، أو مقالًا، أو صحيفة: She wrote a paper.

أخطاء شائعة

1. غير صحيح: I need an advice. صحيح: I need some advice. الشرح: Advice غير معدود، لذا لا تستخدم an.

2. غير صحيح: She gave me two advices. صحيح: She gave me two pieces of advice. الشرح: Advice عادةً لا يكون له صيغة جمع.

3. غير صحيح: These informations are useful. صحيح: This information is useful. الشرح: Information غير معدود ويأخذ فعلًا مفردًا.

4. غير صحيح: We bought three breads. صحيح: We bought three loaves of bread. الشرح: استخدم تعبير كمية لعدّ bread.

5. غير صحيح: How many money do you have? صحيح: How much money do you have? الشرح: استخدم how much مع الأسماء غير المعدودة.

6. غير صحيح: The furnitures are new. صحيح: The furniture is new. الشرح: Furniture غير معدود وعادةً لا يكون له صيغة جمع.

7. غير صحيح: I have many homework today. صحيح: I have a lot of homework today. الشرح: استخدم much أو a lot of مع الأسماء غير المعدودة، وليس many.
