기본 강조어

무엇인가요?

강조어(intensifiers)는 형용사나 부사의 강도를 바꾸는 단어입니다.

그것들은 설명을 더 강하게 또는 더 약하게 만들 수 있습니다.

일반적인 기본 강조어는 다음과 같습니다:

  • very
  • really
  • so
  • too
  • quite
  • a little
  • a bit

예문:

  • 방이 very 춥다.
  • 그녀는 really 천천히 말한다.

언제 사용하나요?

형용사나 부사 앞에 강조어를 사용합니다.

very, really, so를 사용하여 설명을 더 강하게 만듭니다.

  • very hot
  • really interesting
  • so quickly

too는 어떤 것이 필요 이상이거나 문제를 일으킬 때 사용합니다.

  • too expensive
  • too slowly

quite는 중간 정도 또는 꽤 강한 정도를 나타낼 때 사용합니다.

  • quite busy
  • quite carefully

a little 또는 a bit을 사용하여 설명을 더 약하게 만듭니다.

  • a little nervous
  • a bit slowly

구조

기본 구조는 다음과 같습니다:

주어 + 동사 + 강조어 + 형용사

quite The hotel is quite expensive.

a bit The room is a bit small.

부사와 함께 사용할 때는 다음 구조를 사용합니다:

주어 + 동사 + 강조어 + 부사

  • She speaks very quietly.
  • He drives too quickly.
  • They work quite slowly.

too + 형용사/부사 + to + 동사를 사용하여 결과를 설명합니다.

  • The coffee is too hot to drink.
  • He speaks too quickly to understand.

so + 형용사/부사 + that을 사용하여 결과를 설명합니다.

  • The music was so loud that we left.
  • She spoke so quietly that I could not hear her.

예외

very는 일반적으로 이미 극단적인 의미를 가진 형용사와 함께 사용되지 않습니다.

very excellent 대신 excellent 또는 really excellent라고 말합니다.

very impossible 대신 impossible 또는 completely impossible이라고 말합니다.

비격식 영어에서 really는 일반 형용사와 극단적 형용사 모두와 자주 사용됩니다.

흔한 실수

  1. 틀림: The room is very much cold. 맞음: The room is very cold. 설명: 형용사 바로 앞에 very를 사용합니다.

  2. 틀림: This bag is very heavy for me carry. 맞음: This bag is too heavy for me to carry. 설명: 어떤 것이 문제를 일으킬 때 too + 형용사 + to + 동사를 사용합니다.

  3. 틀림: She speaks very slow. 맞음: She speaks very slowly. 설명: 누군가 어떻게 말하는지 설명할 때 부사를 사용합니다.

  4. 틀림: I am bit tired. 맞음: I am a bit tired. 설명: bit만 사용하지 말고 a bit을 사용합니다.

  5. 틀림: The coffee is too very hot. 맞음: The coffee is too hot. 설명: 일반적으로 too와 very를 함께 사용하지 않습니다.
