- tall → the tallest

Struktur
Bagi banyak kata adjektif pendek, tambah -est.
Subject + be + the + adjective-est + noun/complement
- tall → the tallest
- small → the smallest
- fast → the fastest
Contoh:
Leo is the tallest student in the class.
Jika sesuatu kata adjektif berakhir dengan -e, tambah -st sahaja.
- nice → the nicest
- large → the largest
Jika kata adjektif pendek berakhir dengan satu vokal + satu konsonan, konsonan akhir selalunya digandakan.
- big → the biggest
- hot → the hottest
Jika kata adjektif berakhir dengan konsonan + -y, tukar y kepada i dan tambah -est.
- happy → the happiest
- easy → the easiest
Bagi banyak kata adjektif yang lebih panjang, guna the most.
Subject + be + the most + adjective + noun/complement
- the most beautiful
- the most comfortable
- the most important
Contoh:
This is the most comfortable chair in the room.
Untuk menunjukkan tahap terendah, guna the least.
Subject + be + the least + adjective + noun/complement
Contoh:
This is the least expensive hotel nearby.
Sesetengah kata adjektif biasa mempunyai bentuk superlatif tak sekata.
| Kata adjektif | Superlatif |

Pengecualian

- good → the best
- bad → the worst
- far → the farthest / the furthest
Jangan biasanya guna kedua-dua most dan -est dengan kata adjektif yang sama.

the tallest
bukan:
the most tallest
Kata sandang tentu the biasanya digunakan sebelum kata adjektif superlatif apabila kata adjektif itu menerangkan sesuatu kata nama.
- She is the fastest runner.
- This is the best option.
Apabila kata pemilik sudah mengenal pasti kata nama itu, the tidak digunakan.
- my best friend
- her biggest problem

- the cleverest / the most clever
- the quietest / the most quiet
