Vienkāršā pagātnes forma "To Be"

Kas tas ir?

Pagātnes vienkāršās formas vārdam to be ir was un were.

was lieto ar:

  • I
  • he
  • she
  • it

were lieto ar:

  • you
  • we
  • they

Piemēri:

  • I was tired.
  • She was at home.
  • We were busy.
  • They were happy.

Nolieguma formas ir was not un were not.

Parastās īsās formas ir:

  • was not → wasn’t
  • were not → weren’t

Kad lietot

Pagātnes vienkāršo formu vārdam to be lieto, lai runātu par:

  • pagātnes stāvokļiem: I was tired.
  • pagātnes sajūtām: She was nervous.

  • pagātnes vecumu: He was ten years old.

Izņēmumi

Dažās formālās vai nereālās izteiksmēs ar I, he, she vai it lieto were nevis was.

Neformālā angļu valodā šajās izteiksmēs dažreiz lieto was, bet were ir standarta forma.
