Can, can’t, could, এবং couldn’t হলো মডাল ভার্ব (modal verb)।
এগুলো ব্যবহার করা হয়:

- অতীত সামর্থ্য

- অনুরোধ
- সম্ভাবনা
Can হলো ইতিবাচক রূপ।
- I can swim.
Can’t হলো cannot-এর সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপ।
- I can’t drive.
Could প্রায়ই অতীত সামর্থ্য বা বিনয়ী অনুরোধের জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- She could read when she was four.
- Could you help me?
Couldn’t হলো could not-এর সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপ।
- We couldn’t find the address.
কখন ব্যবহার করবেন
বর্তমান সামর্থ্যের জন্য can ব্যবহার করুন।
- He can speak English.
- I can cook.
যখন কেউ কিছু করতে সক্ষম নয়, তখন can’t ব্যবহার করুন।
- She can’t swim.
- We can’t come today.
অনুমতি চাওয়া বা দেওয়ার জন্য can ব্যবহার করুন।

- You can leave early.
অতীতে সাধারণ সামর্থ্যের জন্য could ব্যবহার করুন।
- I could run fast when I was younger.

অতীতে সামর্থ্যের অভাব বা ব্যর্থ পরিস্থিতির জন্য couldn’t ব্যবহার করুন।

অনুরোধ জানাতে can বা could ব্যবহার করুন।
