সাধারণ অব্যয়

এটা কী?

Preposition হলো ছোট শব্দ যা একটি noun বা pronoun-কে বাক্যের অন্য অংশের সাথে সংযুক্ত করে।

এগুলো প্রায়শই দেখায়:

স্থান: in, on, under, next to
সময়: at, on, in
গতি: to, into, from
অবস্থান বা দিক: behind, between, across

উদাহরণ:

চাবিগুলো on টেবিলে আছে।
আমরা at ছয়টায় দেখা করি।
সে to স্টেশনে হেঁটে গেল।
বিড়ালটা under চেয়ারের নিচে আছে।

কখন ব্যবহার করবেন

কোথায় কিছু আছে তা দেখাতে স্থানের preposition ব্যবহার করুন।

in the room
on the desk
under the bed
next to the window
between two buildings

কখন কিছু ঘটে তা দেখাতে সময়ের preposition ব্যবহার করুন।

at five o’clock
on Monday
in July

দিক দেখাতে গতির preposition ব্যবহার করুন।

go to school
walk into the room
come from Canada
run across the street

গঠন

একটি preposition সাধারণত noun, pronoun, বা noun phrase-এর আগে বসে।

preposition + noun বা pronoun

স্থানের সাধারণ preposition

Preposition	ব্যবহার	উদাহরণ
in	কোনো এলাকা বা স্থানের ভিতরে	The milk is in the fridge.
on	কোনো পৃষ্ঠ স্পর্শ করা	The book is on the table.
at	নির্দিষ্ট বিন্দু বা স্থান	She is at the bus stop.
under	কোনো কিছুর নিচে	The shoes are under the bed.
above	কোনো কিছুর উপরে	The picture is above the sofa.
behind	কোনো কিছুর পিছনে	The garden is behind the house.
in front of	কোনো কিছুর সামনে	The car is in front of the building.
next to	কোনো কিছুর পাশে	The bank is next to the shop.
between	দুটি জিনিসের মাঝে	The café is between the bank and the hotel.
near	কোনো কিছুর কাছে	We live near the station.

সময়ের সাধারণ preposition

before	কোনো সময়ের আগে	before dinner

গতির সাধারণ preposition

Preposition	ব্যবহার	উদাহরণ
to	কোনো গন্তব্যের দিকে	We went to the park.
from	শুরু বিন্দু	She came from work.
into	বাইরে থেকে ভিতরে গতি	He walked into the room.
out of	ভিতর থেকে বাইরে গতি	They ran out of the house.
across	এক পাশ থেকে অন্য পাশে	We walked across the bridge.
through	কোনো কিছুর এক অংশ থেকে অন্য অংশে	The train went through the tunnel.
along	কোনো রেখা বা পথ অনুসরণ করে	They walked along the river.
past	কোনো কিছুর বাইরে দিয়ে যাওয়া	She drove past the school.

উদাহরণ

The phone is on the desk.
She is waiting at the station.
We live in a small apartment.
The dog is under the table.
I have a meeting on Tuesday.
They moved here in 2024.
He arrived at nine o’clock.
She walked into the kitchen.
We drove across the bridge.
The supermarket is next to the bank.

ব্যতিক্রম

কিছু অভিব্যক্তি নির্দিষ্ট preposition ব্যবহার করে এবং সম্পূর্ণ বাক্যাংশ হিসেবে শিখতে হয়।

at home

by car

in bed

interested in
good at

Preposition ভাষা অনুযায়ী ভিন্ন হতে পারে, তাই সরাসরি অনুবাদ সবসময় সঠিক নয়।

কিছু verb-এর সাথে ইংরেজিতে preposition ব্যবহৃত হয় না।

Correct: enter the room
Incorrect: enter into the room

তবে, go into the room সঠিক কারণ into গতি দেখায়।

সাধারণ ভুল

Incorrect: I am in home. Correct: I am at home. Explanation: নির্দিষ্ট অভিব্যক্তি at home ব্যবহার করুন।
Incorrect: We will meet in Monday. Correct: We will meet on Monday. Explanation: দিনের সাথে on ব্যবহার করুন।
Incorrect: The meeting starts on 8:00. Correct: The meeting starts at 8:00. Explanation: নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের সাথে at ব্যবহার করুন।
Incorrect: She was born on 1995. Correct: She was born in 1995. Explanation: বছরের সাথে in ব্যবহার করুন।
Incorrect: The cat is in the table. Correct: The cat is under the table. Explanation: অবস্থান সঠিকভাবে বর্ণনা করে এমন একটি preposition ব্যবহার করুন।
Incorrect: He went in the room. Correct: He went into the room. Explanation: বাইরে থেকে ভিতরে গতির জন্য into ব্যবহার করুন।
Incorrect: We arrived to the airport. Correct: We arrived at the airport. Explanation: নির্দিষ্ট স্থানের জন্য arrive at ব্যবহার করুন।
Incorrect: She entered into the office. Correct: She entered the office. Explanation: verb enter-এর সাথে সাধারণত into প্রয়োজন হয় না।
