Past Simple ব্যবহৃত হয় সেই সব কাজ, ঘটনা এবং পরিস্থিতি নিয়ে কথা বলতে যা অতীতে শুরু হয়েছিল এবং শেষ হয়েছিল।
উদাহরণ:
- I visited my friend yesterday.
- She worked from home last week.
- They went to the cinema.
নিয়মিত ক্রিয়াপদ সাধারণত -ed যোগ করে Past Simple গঠন করে।

- play → played
- clean → cleaned
অনিয়মিত ক্রিয়াপদের বিশেষ অতীত রূপ থাকে।
- go → went
- see → saw

কখন ব্যবহার করবেন
Past Simple ব্যবহার করুন:
- অতীতে সম্পন্ন কাজ: I finished the report yesterday.
- ধারাবাহিকভাবে সম্পন্ন কাজ: She opened the door, walked inside, and sat down.
- অতীতের অভ্যাস: We played outside every day.
- অতীতের পরিস্থিতি যা আর সত্য নয়: He lived in London for five years.
- নির্দিষ্ট অতীত সময়ে কাজ: They arrived at 8 p.m.

to be ক্রিয়াপদ Past Simple-এর প্রশ্ন এবং নেতিবাচক বাক্যে did ব্যবহার করে না।
