آن چیست؟

There is و there are برای بیان وجود یا حضور چیزی به کار میروند.

از there is استفاده کنید با:

• یک شخص یا چیز
• اسمهای غیرقابلشمارش

از there are استفاده کنید با:

• دو یا چند شخص یا چیز

مثالها:

• There is a book on the table.
• There is some milk in the fridge.
• There are three chairs in the room.

شکل کوتاه there is به صورت there’s است.

• There’s a café near my house.

زمان استفاده

از there is و there are استفاده کنید برای:

• معرفی اطلاعات جدید
• توصیف مکانها
• بیان آنچه در دسترس است
• بیان تعداد افراد یا چیزهای حاضر
• صحبت درباره رویدادها یا مشکلات

مثالها:

• There is a bank next to the station.
• There are two bathrooms in the apartment.
• There is some food in the kitchen.
• There are many people outside.
• There is a problem with the computer.

جملات مثبت

استفاده کنید:

there is + اسم مفرد

• There is a shop nearby.
• There is one window in the room.

استفاده کنید:

there is + اسم غیرقابلشمارش

• There is some water in the bottle.
• There is a lot of traffic today.

استفاده کنید:

there are + اسم جمع

• There are two shops nearby.
• There are several windows in the room.

جملات منفی

استفاده کنید:

there is not + اسم مفرد یا غیرقابلشمارش

• There is not a pharmacy nearby.
• There is not much time.

شکل کوتاه there isn’t است.

استفاده کنید:

there are not + اسم جمع

• There are not enough chairs.
• There are not any shops nearby.

شکل کوتاه there aren’t است.

سوالات

استفاده کنید:

Is there + اسم مفرد یا غیرقابلشمارش؟

• Is there a bathroom here?
• Is there any coffee left?

استفاده کنید:

Are there + اسم جمع؟

• Are there any questions?
• Are there two bedrooms?

پاسخهای کوتاه

• Is there a bank nearby? — Yes, there is.
• Is there any milk? — No, there isn’t.
• Are there any tickets left? — Yes, there are.
• Are there many people? — No, there aren’t.

استفاده از some و any

از some عمدتاً در جملات مثبت استفاده کنید.

• There is some bread.
• There are some apples.

از any عمدتاً در جملات منفی و سوالات استفاده کنید.

• There isn’t any bread.
• Are there any apples?

مثالها

1. There is a supermarket near my house.
2. There are two cats in the garden.
3. There is some coffee in the kitchen.
4. There isn’t a bus stop on this street.
5. There aren’t any clean cups.
6. Is there a hotel near the airport?
7. Are there any messages for me?

استثناها

در گفتار غیررسمی، گاهی there’s قبل از اسم جمع استفاده میشود.

• There’s two people outside.

این در مکالمه رایج است، اما there are شکل استاندارد است.

• There are two people outside.

عبارت there is به معنای it is نیست.

• There is a café near the station. — یک کافه آنجا وجود دارد.
• It is near the station. — شخص یا چیز مشخصی نزدیک ایستگاه است.

برای گذشته از there was و there were استفاده کنید.

• There was a problem yesterday.
• There were many people at the event.

اشتباهات رایج

1. نادرست: There are a book on the table. درست: There is a book on the table. توضیح: با اسم مفرد از there is استفاده کنید.

2. نادرست: There is two chairs in the room. درست: There are two chairs in the room. توضیح: با اسم جمع از there are استفاده کنید.

3. نادرست: There are some milk in the fridge. درست: There is some milk in the fridge. توضیح: با اسم غیرقابلشمارش از there is استفاده کنید.

4. نادرست: Is there any shops nearby? درست: Are there any shops nearby? توضیح: با اسم جمع از are there استفاده کنید.

5. نادرست: There isn’t no food. درست: There isn’t any food. توضیح: از نفی دوجملهای خودداری کنید. بعد از isn’t از any استفاده کنید.

6. نادرست: Are there a bathroom here? درست: Is there a bathroom here? توضیح: با اسم مفرد از is there استفاده کنید.

7. نادرست: It is a problem with the door. درست: There is a problem with the door. توضیح: برای معرفی چیزی که وجود دارد از there is استفاده کنید.

8. نادرست: There have many people outside. درست: There are many people outside. توضیح: برای صحبت درباره افراد یا چیزهای حاضر از there are استفاده کنید، نه there have.
