それは何ですか？

形容詞は名詞を説明します。人、場所、物、または考えについて、より多くの情報を与えます。

一般的な形容詞は、大きさ、色、年齢、形、意見などの性質を表します。

例:

• a small house
• a red bag
• an old car
• a friendly teacher

指示形容詞は、特定の名詞を指し示します。指示形容詞は次のとおりです。

• this
• that
• these
• those

指示形容詞は、必ず名詞の前に来ます。

例:

• this book
• that building
• these shoes
• those people

いつ使うか

一般的な形容詞は、名詞がどのようなものかを説明するときに使います。

例:

• a beautiful garden
• a difficult question
• a cold morning

指示形容詞は、どの人や物を指しているのかを示すために使います。

this は、近くにある1人の人や1つの物に使います。

• this chair

that は、より離れたところにある1人の人や1つの物に使います。

• that chair

these は、近くにある2人以上の人や物に使います。

• these chairs

those は、より離れたところにある2人以上の人や物に使います。

• those chairs

指示形容詞は、何かが時間的に近く感じられるか、遠く感じられるかも示せます。

• this week
• that day
• these months
• those years

構造

名詞の前に置く一般的な形容詞

通常の構造は次のとおりです。

冠詞または限定詞 + 形容詞 + 名詞

一般的な形容詞は、単数名詞でも複数名詞でも形が変わりません。

• a small box
• two small boxes

連結動詞の後に来る一般的な形容詞

形容詞は、be、look、feel、seem、become などの動詞の後にも来ます。

構造は次のとおりです。

主語 + 連結動詞 + 形容詞

• The room is small.
• She looks tired.
• The water feels cold.

指示形容詞

構造は次のとおりです。

指示形容詞 + 名詞

this と that は単数名詞と使います。

• this apple
• that person

these と those は複数名詞と使います。

• these apples
• those people

指示形容詞は、別の形容詞の前に置くこともできます。

構造は次のとおりです。

指示形容詞 + 一般的な形容詞 + 名詞

• this old house
• that blue car
• these new shoes
• those large buildings

例外

いくつかの形容詞は、通常、それが説明する名詞や代名詞の後に来ます。

• something useful
• someone special
• the people responsible

いくつかの形容詞は、連結動詞の後でよく使われ、通常は名詞の直前には置かれません。

• The child is asleep.
• She is afraid.

指示形容詞は、名詞の数と一致しなければなりません。

• this book
• these books
• that car
• those cars

2. Incorrect: those car Correct: that car Explanation: that は単数名詞と使います。

3. Incorrect: a car red Correct: a red car Explanation: 一般的な形容詞は、通常、名詞の前に来ます。

4. Incorrect: these new shoe Correct: these new shoes Explanation: 複数の指示形容詞には複数名詞が必要です。

5. Incorrect: this is beautiful house Correct: this is a beautiful house Explanation: 可算の単数名詞には、通常、冠詞または別の限定詞が必要です。

6. Incorrect: a olds building Correct: an old building Explanation: 形容詞に複数語尾はつきません。また、an は母音で始まる音の前で使います。

7. Incorrect: the room is coldly Correct: the room is cold Explanation: 連結動詞 is の後には形容詞を使います。
