Adjetivos Superlativos e o Artigo Definido

  • tall → the tallest
  • fast → the fastest
  • beautiful → the most beautiful
  • expensive → the most expensive

Formas comuns:

Adjetivo Superlativo
tall the tallest
small the smallest
fast the fastest
happy the happiest
interesting the most interesting
expensive the most expensive
good the best
bad the worst

  • Emma is the tallest student in the class.
  • This is the cheapest phone in the store.

  • It is the hottest day of the week.
  • He is the fastest runner on the team.

Use the most + adjective com muitos adjetivos mais longos.

  • This is the most interesting book here.
  • That is the most expensive restaurant in town.

  • This is the least difficult exercise.
  • It is the least expensive option.

Estrutura

Para muitos adjetivos curtos, acrescente -est.

Sujeito + be + the + adjetivo-est + substantivo/complemento

  • tall → the tallest
  • small → the smallest
  • fast → the fastest

Exemplo:

Leo is the tallest student in the class.

  • nice → the nicest
  • large → the largest

  • big → the biggest
  • hot → the hottest

  • happy → the happiest
  • easy → the easiest

Para muitos adjetivos mais longos, use the most.

Sujeito + be + the most + adjetivo + substantivo/complemento

  • the most beautiful
  • the most comfortable
  • the most important

Exemplo:

This is the most comfortable chair in the room.

Sujeito + be + the least + adjetivo + substantivo/complemento

Exemplo:

This is the least expensive hotel nearby.

Alguns adjetivos comuns têm formas superlativas irregulares.

Adjetivo Superlativo
good the best
bad the worst
far the farthest / the furthest

O grupo sendo comparado é frequentemente introduzido com in ou of.

  • the tallest student in the class
  • the best day of the week

  2. This is the smallest room in the house.

Exceções

Alguns adjetivos têm formas superlativas irregulares.

  • good → the best
  • bad → the worst
  • far → the farthest / the furthest

Use:

the tallest

não:

the most tallest

  • She is the fastest runner.
  • This is the best option.

  • my best friend
  • her biggest problem
  • our most important task

  • the cleverest / the most clever
  • the quietest / the most quiet
