How Much, How Many e Very

Cos'è?

How much e how many si usano per chiedere informazioni sulla quantità.

Usa how much con i nomi non numerabili. I nomi non numerabili descrivono cose che normalmente non vengono contate come singoli elementi separati.

  • How much water do you drink?
  • How much time do we have?

Usa how many con i nomi numerabili plurali. I nomi numerabili possono essere contati come elementi separati.

  • How many books do you own?
  • How many people are coming?

Very si usa prima di un aggettivo o di un avverbio per rafforzarne il significato. Significa "in alto grado".

  • The coffee is very hot.
  • She speaks very slowly.

Quando si usa

Usa how much per chiedere informazioni sulla quantità di qualcosa di non numerabile.

Frasi con much e many

Much e many sono comuni nelle frasi negative e nelle domande.

Nelle frasi affermative, a lot of è spesso più naturale.

  • We have a lot of time.
  • She has a lot of friends.

Frasi con very

Usa:

very + aggettivo

Usa:

very + avverbio

  • very slowly
  • very carefully
  • very well

In una frase completa:

soggetto + verbo + very + aggettivo/avverbio

Normalmente non si usa very direttamente prima di un nome.

Eccezioni

Alcuni nomi possono essere numerabili o non numerabili a seconda del loro significato.

Nella prima frase, coffee indica la bevanda in generale. Nella seconda frase, coffees indica tazze o porzioni separate.

Di solito non si usa very con aggettivi che esprimono già un significato estremo.

Invece di very excellent, usa excellent.

Invece di very impossible, usa impossible.

Alcuni aggettivi estremi possono essere rafforzati con parole come absolutely o completely.
