Aggettivi superlativi e l'articolo determinativo

In inglese, gli aggettivi superlativi normalmente usano l'articolo determinativo the.

  • tall → the tallest
  • fast → the fastest
  • beautiful → the most beautiful
  • expensive → the most expensive

Forme comuni:

Aggettivo Superlativo
tall the tallest
small the smallest
fast the fastest
happy the happiest
interesting the most interesting
expensive the most expensive
good the best
bad the worst

  • Emma is the tallest student in the class.
  • This is the cheapest phone in the store.

  • It is the hottest day of the week.
  • He is the fastest runner on the team.

Usa the most + aggettivo con molti aggettivi più lunghi.

  • This is the most interesting book here.
  • That is the most expensive restaurant in town.

  • This is the least difficult exercise.
  • It is the least expensive option.

Struttura

Per molti aggettivi brevi, aggiungi -est.

Soggetto + be + the + aggettivo-est + sostantivo/complemento

  • tall → the tallest
  • small → the smallest
  • fast → the fastest

Esempio:

Leo is the tallest student in the class.

  • nice → the nicest
  • large → the largest

  • big → the biggest
  • hot → the hottest

Se un aggettivo termina in consonante + -y, cambia y in i e aggiungi -est.

  • happy → the happiest
  • easy → the easiest

Per molti aggettivi più lunghi, usa the most.

Soggetto + be + the most + aggettivo + sostantivo/complemento

  • the most beautiful
  • the most comfortable
  • the most important

Esempio:

This is the most comfortable chair in the room.

Soggetto + be + the least + aggettivo + sostantivo/complemento

Esempio:

This is the least expensive hotel nearby.

Alcuni aggettivi comuni hanno forme superlative irregolari.

Aggettivo Superlativo
good the best
bad the worst
far the farthest / the furthest

  • the tallest student in the class

Eccezioni

Alcuni aggettivi hanno forme superlative irregolari.

  • good → the best
  • bad → the worst
  • far → the farthest / the furthest

Usa:

the tallest

non:

the most tallest

  • She is the fastest runner.
  • This is the best option.

  • my best friend
  • her biggest problem
  • our most important task

  • the cleverest / the most clever
  • the quietest / the most quiet
