Ce este?

Adverbele de frecvență arată cât de des se întâmplă o acțiune.

Adverbele de frecvență uzuale includ:

• always — de fiecare dată
• usually — de cele mai multe ori
• often — de multe ori
• sometimes — uneori
• rarely — rar
• hardly ever — aproape niciodată
• never — niciodată

Aceste cuvinte descriu frecvența fără a oferi un număr exact.

Când se folosesc

Folosește adverbele de frecvență pentru a vorbi despre obiceiuri, rutine și acțiuni repetate.

• I usually drink coffee in the morning.
• She often walks to work.
• They never eat meat.

Ele sunt folosite în mod obișnuit cu Present Simple, deoarece acest timp descrie acțiuni regulate și obiceiuri.

Unele expresii indică o frecvență mai exactă:

• every day
• once a week
• twice a month
• three times a year

Aceste expresii apar de obicei la începutul sau la sfârșitul unei propoziții.

• I exercise three times a week.
• Every Friday, we order pizza.

Structură

Cu majoritatea verbelor

Așază adverbul de frecvență înaintea verbului principal.

subiect + adverb de frecvență + verb principal

• We sometimes play tennis.
• He rarely drives at night.

Cu verbul “be”

Așază adverbul de frecvență după verbul be.

subiect + be + adverb de frecvență

• He is never late.
• We are usually at home on Sundays.

Cu verbe auxiliare și modale

Așază adverbul după primul verb auxiliar sau modal.

subiect + auxiliar sau modal + adverb + verb principal

• She can always help you.
• I have never seen that film.
• They do not usually work on weekends.
• He will often call in the evening.

Sometimes, usually, and often

Sometimes, usually și often pot apărea și la începutul unei propoziții.

• Sometimes, I walk to work.
• Usually, we eat dinner at home.
• Often, she reads before bed.

Sometimes poate apărea și la sfârșit.

• I cook dinner sometimes.

Never

Never are deja un sens negativ. Nu-l folosi cu not.

• I never smoke.
• She is never rude.

4. He sometimes forgets his keys.
5. They rarely go to restaurants.
6. My parents hardly ever travel in winter.

Excepții

Unele expresii de frecvență nu urmează poziția obișnuită a adverbului.

Expresii precum every day, once a week și three times a month apar de obicei la începutul sau la sfârșitul propoziției.

• I call my parents once a week.
• Every morning, she goes for a walk.

Adverbul sometimes poate apărea înaintea verbului principal, la începutul sau la sfârșitul unei propoziții.

• I sometimes work from home.
• Sometimes, I work from home.
• I work from home sometimes.

Greșeli frecvente

1. Incorrect: I go always to work by bus. Correct: I always go to work by bus. Explanation: Așază adverbul înaintea verbului principal.

2. Incorrect: She always is tired. Correct: She is always tired. Explanation: Așază adverbul după verbul be.

3. Incorrect: He does never eat breakfast. Correct: He never eats breakfast. Explanation: Never are deja un sens negativ, așa că nu folosi does ca auxiliar negativ.

4. Incorrect: They don't never arrive late. Correct: They never arrive late. Explanation: Nu folosi not și never împreună.

5. Incorrect: I am drink usually coffee. Correct: I usually drink coffee. Explanation: Nu folosi am înaintea unui verb principal în Present Simple.

6. Incorrect: She can drive always safely. Correct: She can always drive safely. Explanation: Așază adverbul după verbul modal can.

7. Incorrect: We go to the gym often every day. Correct: We go to the gym every day. Explanation: Evită să folosești două expresii de frecvență când este suficientă una.
