Adjectivele comparative sunt folosite pentru a compara două persoane, lucruri, locuri sau situații.
Ele arată că o persoană sau un lucru are mai mult sau mai puțin dintr-o calitate decât altul.
Formele comparative comune includ:

Folosește adjectivele comparative când compari două persoane sau lucruri.
- This car is faster than that car.
- My room is smaller than yours.

- Today is busier than yesterday.
Folosește more + adjective cu multe adjective mai lungi.
- This book is more interesting than that one.

Structură
Pentru multe adjective scurte, adaugă -er.
Subject + be + adjective-er + than + noun/pronoun
- tall → taller
- fast → faster
- old → older
Exemplu:
Anna is taller than Maria.
Dacă un adjectiv se termină în -e, adaugă doar -r.
- nice → nicer
- large → larger
Dacă un adjectiv scurt se termină într-o vocală + o consoană, consoana finală este adesea dublată.
- big → bigger
- hot → hotter
Dacă un adjectiv se termină în consoană + -y, schimbă y în i și adaugă -er.
- happy → happier
- easy → easier
Pentru multe adjective mai lungi, folosește more.

Excepții
Unele adjective au forme comparative neregulate și nu folosesc modelul normal -er sau more.
- good → better
- bad → worse
- far → farther / further
Nu folosi în mod normal atât more, cât și -er împreună.

Unele adjective cu două silabe pot folosi oricare formă, în funcție de adjectiv și de utilizare.
